The updated Cruising & Seamanship course now includes video and expanded coverage of a full range of coastal cruising topics. Under the direction of Annapolis Book of Seamanship author John Rousmaniere, the course covers a full range of topics, including:
  • Upwind sail trim
  • Downwind sail trim
  • Gennaker and Snuffer use
  • Heavy Weather Sailing
  • Heaving To
  • Safety and Emergency Procedures
  • Suddenly Alone
  • Anchoring
  • Night Sailing
  • Crew Over Board recovery

The course is designed to help cruising sailors build skills and confidence, and expand their cruising horizons. If you want to sail better, and enjoy your sailing more, come to this class (and bring your spouse).

Directions:

The Edison Boat Club is located on the Detroit River across from Belle Isle.

The best way into the club is either St. Jean or Conner depending on the direction you are coming from.

There is a ring down telephone for guests and visitors at the gate, simply pick it up and identify yourself as being part of the North U Seminar.

If you are coming from the Metro Airport, you will take I94 East to the Conners Exit, turn right on Conners to Freud. Turn right to Lycaste; then turn left.
